Creepy Window Murals
Difficulty: Medium
What you will need:
-Window paints or window markers will do
-Stencil paper
-A stencil brush or stencil sponge
-Download printable stencil templates
This one might take some additional skill. It is a great project for the artistically inclined. Go to a hobby store and purchase some window paints or window markers and create your own Halloween mural on your window panes. If you need guidelines or something to trace, you can Google “Halloween stencil templates” and download your favorites. You will need stencil paper also need stencil paper. Put the template you printed under the stencil paper and cut around it. Then use the stencil to apply it to your window. Something spooky like a graveyard, haunted house or ghosts will do. Spiders and spider webs are also a creepy way to scare trick or treaters.
Scary Spider Webs
Difficulty: Easy
What you will need:
-White or silver pipe cleaners
-Double Stick Tape or hot glue gun.
This is an easy one that you can do with your children to get them in the festive mood. Buy a bag of white, gray and silver pipe cleaners. You will bend one into a circle and then attach five straight pipe cleaners to that circle. Next, make a second larger circle by fusing two or more pipe cleaners. The second circle should be twice as big as the first. Connect the second circle to the ends of the straight pipe cleaners. Repeat this until you have a pattern of circles and “webbings” big enough to cover your whole window. Glue plastic spiders on the webs for added effect.
Spooky Jack O Lanterns
Difficulty: Easy
What you need:
-Orange poster board
-Black construction paper
-Scissors
-Pencil
-Glue stick
-Tape
Cut some large circles and some medium circles out of the orange poster board. These orange circles will serve as the body of the Jack O Lantern and will be fixed to the window. Make your Jack O Lantern face on the Jack O Lantern body by cutting out the eyes, mouth, and nose shaped from the black construction paper. Glue the black pieces on the orange poster board and then tape the entire thing on your windows. If you want to make it even spookier, add a strobe light behind the window and turn off the lights. The strobe effect will make them pop at your trick or treaters.
Ghastly Ghosts
Difficulty: Easy
What you need:
-White Poster Board
-Tape
-Pencil
-Scissors
This one is pretty easy. All you do is draw a ghost shape on the poster board. Cut out the shape of his eyes and mouth. If you aren’t feeling too creative, you can Google ghost template ideas, and use those as a guide. Once you have finished your ghost design, tape it to the inside of the window. Taping the cut-out at an angle or on one of the sides of the window will give the impression that it is floating.
