Well-designed home windows can really amp up the beauty factor of both the outside and inside of your house. But since windows are made of glass, they can only do this if they are properly cleaned and cared for. This week, we have a precautionary list of common mistakes we want to help you avoid.
- Do not wash the glass of your Houston vinyl windows in direct sunlight. This leads to unsightly streaking of the glass.
- Abrasive cleaners can cause permanent damage, not only to the glass, but to the sashes, screens, and frames of the window. As a general rule of thumb, anything petroleum-based is best to be avoided.
- Never clean with steel wool, or any other sort of abrasive cleaning tool. They leave your glass scratched up and looking worse than before you started cleaning.
- Do not rinse your windows with a pressure washer or other high-pressure sprayer. This can dislodge seals and damage the framework of the window.
